Climate Change threatens everything we hold dear…

Dear community member,

This is an appeal from the Cairns and Far North Environment Centre (CAFNEC) - FNQ’s own environmental advocacy organisation – for donations to help support a FNQ Climate Change Project Officer at this critical time when we need our leaders to act immediately on climate change, particularly in the wake of Copenhagen and the lead up to the next Federal election in 2010.

Our aim is to raise $40,000 by 31st December 2009….

Every dollar counts!
With $2000 we could employ a part-time Project Officer for 2 months.
with $6,000 we could employ a part-time Project Officer for 6 months.

CAFNEC has an excellent track record of environmental advocacy and community engagement on key regional issues over 25 years. We also have direct representation on forums at the Federal, State and Local environment sector levels, and have always worked hard to ensure that FNQ voices are promoted at all levels.

Your support will help to leverage stronger Federal government action on climate change, with the potential flow-on effect of drawing greater support for progressive, climate-friendly investment in our region.
